This week we're launching a new fundraiser to make NTA a more wildlife-friendly campus. This campaign will fund improvements to protect migratory birds from collisions with the NTA Bridge—the glass walkway that connects our building to the Park District building next door.
The NTA Bridge
As families may have noticed during migration season, including earlier this month, NTA sits along a "superhighway" route traveled by thousands of migratory birds each spring and fall. Unfortunately, as birds look for a safe place to rest after their nighttime flight, our "Bridge" becomes a deadly hazard. They're unable to see the glass windows, causing hundreds of collisions each year.
Birds injured at NTA during the the 2023 migration
After a particularly distressing season in 2023, students in NTA's Peace Club got to work. They researched what caused birds to collide with the Bridge, the environmental impact of these deaths, and possible solutions. For the past 3 years, students have fundraised on and off to purchase reflective film that will make the bridge visible to birds and stop these deadly collisions.
Now we need help to get this project to the finish line!
We are working to raise $10,000 to install bird-friendly film on the windows in the NTA Bridge to stop these deadly collisions. And thanks to a generous matching gift from Bird Friendly Chicago, you donation toward our goal will be DOUBLED.

Your support will not only make a positive impact on wildlife—it empowers NTA's determined and compassionate young leaders.
Please give what you can and share the fundraiser widely to help us build momentum and complete this project. NTA students—and the birds—thank you!
