Welcome to the 2026-2027 School Year

The school year is off to a great start for Friends of NTA (affectionately know as FoNTA). Whether you’re a new or returning family, read on for more on what FoNTA does, who we are, and most importantly, opportunities to get involved in events coming up this fall!

What FoNTA Is and What We Do

If you’re new to our work, FoNTA is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization raising money to support the needs of NTA classrooms and students. FoNTA is made up of current and alumni NTA family members who support fundraising projects throughout the school year, including our October Jog-a-Thon, Dine-Outs, Double Good Popcorn Fundraiser, and more.

Thanks to the generosity of our incredible community, FoNTA is able to help “fill in the gap” to support some of the projects that the school budget isn’t able to cover. Last year we were able to support activities like our February Black History Month celebration, athletic competition travel costs, STEM supplies, after-school programming like chess and cooking, and more. Most recently, we funded large student portraits you’ll see in hallways throughout the building!

FoNTA’s Leadership Team

Friends of NTA’s work is possible because of the support of every member of the NTA community! All families are considered “members” of FoNTA and invited to get involved in our work.

Our leadership team is made up of a small group of dedicated volunteers. They include student and alumni parents and school staff who help ensure that we fulfill our mission to serve the NTA community.

FoNTA leadership: Temple Moore, president, Alumni parent; Abbey Hambright, vice president, Alumni parent; Farah Abbas, treasurer, 4th & 6th grade parent; Laura Zavala, secretary, 1st grade parent

Look for our team at school events or reach any time at friendsofnta@gmail.com

Upcoming Opportunities to Get Involved

Fall is a great time to volunteer with FoNTA! Whether you’re looking for a one-off opportunity or have some time to offer behind the scenes, there are lots of ways to help make our fundraisers and activities a success.

🎪 Family Fun Night - September 24, 4:00-6:00 pm

  • Table helpers: Help our team staff the FoNTA table, tell families about what we do, and get sign up for our mailing list. You do not need to be an expert on FoNTA to help!

🏃🏽‍♀️ Jog-a-Thon Volunteers - October 14, 8:30 am - 3:00 pm

  • Sponsor Outreach: Email, call, or visit local businesses to sign-up sponsors for the event. (Now through October)

  • Family Event Promotion: Hype up Jog-a-Thon fundraising in group chats, email, and newsletters to your other parents from your child’s grade to encourage participation. (October)

  • Day-Of Volunteers & Snack Donations: Sign-up coming soon to help on the day of the event and donate snacks to hungry runners. Stay tuned!

Want to help behind the scenes? Check out these ongoing volunteer roles:

📣 Marketing Assistance (~5 hours/month)

  • We’re looking for someone to help update FoNTA’s website, schedule social media posts and emails, and pitch in with other marketing projects.

🍽️ Dine-Out Coordinator (~1 hour/month)

  • A low lift position that makes a big impact! We need a volunteer to reach out to local restaurants to schedule locations for our monthly dine-out fundraisers.

📢 Sponsorships & Outreach Coordinator (~5 hours/month)

  • Reach out (online or in person) to local businesses and corporations to request sponsorships for FoNTA events and activities. No prior fundraising experience necessary—we can get you everything you need!

Ready to jump in and help with any of these roles? Send us an email!
